Visual artists of all experiences are encouraged to apply for new membership to Gallery 2727

2727 represents artists in the SF Bay Area from diverse themes, styles, mediums, and life experiences

 Representation

Responsibilities of Membership

Co-op tasks

Members are responsible for contributing to at least one team of their choice for each exhibition period and/or a special project benefitting the co-op. Teams include: ‘Exhibitions’, ‘Marketing’, and ‘Events/Community Engagement”. Special projects could be anything from helping with the backyard garden to organizing a pop-up exhibition.

Meetings & communication

Members are expected to attend 1 in-person meeting per month. Additional meetings may be called for special projects, steering, and exhibition organizing. Some meetings are remote. If unable to attend meetings on a regular basis, members are required to keep up with meeting notes and actively communicate. Additional communications are carried out on Slack.

Staffing

All members are responsible for committing to at least 1 gallery sitting shift per exhibition. Open hours are Friday 4-8PM, Saturday 1-5PM, and Sunday 1-5PM. Members are encouraged to activate open hours with events such as artist talks, workshops, or “mini cafes”.

Openings and Events

Members are expected to attend all openings regardless of participation in the exhibition to support their fellow members. Members are also highly encouraged to attend and support co-op and 2727 programming initiated events.

Exhibitions

Members are expected to deliver artwork ready for installation and will hang and remove their own artwork. Members are required to restore walls/pedestals as part of deinstallation. Materials for installation/deinstallation are provided by the gallery.

2727 California Street values and protects respect and inclusivity for all community members, including co-op members, managers, studio artists, applicants, event organizers, and event attendees. We do not tolerate any disrespectful, discriminatory, exclusionary behavior or harassment, especially based on age, race, color, national origin, sex, sex characteristics including intersex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, physical or mental disability, religion, genetic information, military or veteran status, marital or familial status, or any other factor protected by applicable law.

Membership Dues

Membership dues are $75 per year due on October 15th. Dues may be waived based on need or prorated if joining mid-year.
