Psychoid Wisdom

Consciousness can be imagined as a spectrum of light. The sliver of visible light - our rainbow - is surrounded by light we cannot directly see, but is of vast importance to our existence. Cosmic rays, radio waves, heat and UV light “invisibly” impact our world and our very being.

The “unconscious” is analogous to that huge realm of radiation we cannot directly see. Below the red is the infrared of drives, emotions and genetics expressed through our bodies, moods and impulses. Above the blue is an ultraviolet caelum of celestial images: gods, icons, abstractions, and mythologies.

The liminal experiences of these red or blue end phenomena Jung calls “psychoid.” The Surrealists tapped these regions via dreams, visions or “automatic” writing, drawing or painting. Duchamp found his entry via objects that appeared to be devoid of content (Readymades).

This session of Chat KPJ will explore “Psychoid Wisdom,” - the imagery and thoughts that appear at the edges of our default reality. Similar to a seance but without the woo-woo, we will ask what gifts lie just off stage. We will act “as if” a magus is conjuring such phenomena for our benefit.
